Patricia Ackah-Baidoo

Patricia Ackah-Baidoo is a Post-doctoral Visitor with the African Extractivism and Green Transition Project. She earned her PhD in Political Studies at Queen’s University, where her research addressed the long-standing question of why widespread development has remained elusive in resource-rich African states.

Her research broadly focuses on how resource governance can contribute to inclusive and sustainable development outcomes. She has a particular interest in state-business relations in mining, and how these dynamics shape institutional architectures and inform local economic development in resource-rich Africa.

Patricia’s current project evaluates local content policies within critical minerals value chains in Ghana, Tanzania and Zimbabwe and their potential to foster meaningful development.

Her work has been published in the Canadian Journal of Development Studies and the Extractive Industries and Society.
